Dianna has always been passionate about animals and is particularly interested in animal behavior. By practicing patience, understanding and using a good amount of humor, her goal is to help people and their dogs better understand one another.
Dianna has been professionally training dogs since 2011. She has had the opportunity to work with some amazing and talented trainers, including her mentors Leslie Nelson of Tails-U-Win! Canine Center, LLC in Manchester, CT and Emma Parsons, the author of Click to Calm and Teaching the Reactive Dog Class. Additionally, she has been privileged to volunteer for several animal shelters and work closely with behavioral unit dogs who were instrumental in helping her develop her craft.
Dianna has been extremely fortunate to be a staff member for Camp Gone to the Dogs in the past, traveling to beautiful and scenic VT twice a year to teach CGC/TDI Prep, Loose Leash Walking and Scent Fun classes for their Summer and Fall sessions before retiring in 2017. She thoroughly looked forward to Camp and wishes it could be all year long! If you are looking for a great way to spend a vacation with your canine companion, then you need to look into Camp Gone to the Dogs!
Dianna started her own dog training business, Dianna Santos Dog Training, in 2011 where she offered a variety of group dog training courses and private in-home consultations and behavioral consults. However, after sustaining a serious neck and back injury in 2016, she was unable to continue offering these in-person services. In order to continue meeting the needs of her clients, and fulfill her passion for dog training, Dianna created Scent Work University!
One of Dianna's true passions is Scent Work. A Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI) through NACSW™, she loves all the benefits Scent Work grants the dogs, whether they compete or not, as well as the supportive nature of the Scent Work community as a whole. A certified USCSS™ Judge and CSD, Dianna is incredibly fortunate to be a part of this newer Scent Work organization, and enjoyed being a part of an effort to help to spread the great game of Scent Work to as many dog/handler teams as possible. She loved traveling around the country, whether it was speaking at Judge and CSD Workshops, Proofing Seminars or officiating trials. Dianna is also an AKC Scent Work Judge and enjoys promoting Scent Work in as many different venues as possible. Her favorite part of officiating a trial is watching dogs and handlers exhibit amazing teamwork as they work out challenging, yet fun, searches. Dianna makes it a point to attempt to compete with, and learn about, as many of the Scent Work organizations as possible, believing doing so can further round out her training, and present more fun opportunities for her and her boy.
Speaking of the boy, Valor is an extremely smart, athletic, talented and loving young Doberman who is game for everything and anything and was the inspiration for Dianna's personal business logo. Dianna and Valor will continue competing in a variety of dog sports ranging from Barn Hunt and Scent Work to Agility, Rally, CDSP, Competition Obedience, Disc Dog, Lure Coursing and everything in between, as long as Dianna's body will cooperate! However, more important than any titles or ribbons, is the quality time they get to spend with one another. With his antics and good humor, Valor is always certain to brighten even the darkest of days.
